Gading Kencana Sdn. Bhd., active since 1998, is a trail-blazer in Malaysia’s renewable energy industry, specialising in solar photovoltaic systems and mini-hydro generation. The company is the first Malaysian solar photovoltaic service provider to be ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certified.

As a one-stop centre for energy conservation and generation, we are dedicated to preserving harmony with the environment through products and services that utilise sustainable renewable energy.

From its humble beginnings as an electrical works and transmission cabling contractor as well as energy management consultancy, Gading Kencana is now an acknowledged leader in sustainable energy generation.

The company is recognised as a pioneer in Malaysia’s solar photovoltaic industry and is continually evolving to retain its position as industry leader. A four-star CIDB contractor, Gading Kencana continues to be one of the larger SMEs in the domestic solar PV industry with its annual turnover exceeding RM 30 million.

Dato’ (Dr.) Ir. Muhamad Guntor is a registered professional engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, with more than 34 years’ experience in the field. He is a registered Energy Manager certified by the Malaysian Energy Commission and holds an Honorary Doctorate in Science awarded by the Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. Dato’ (Dr.) Ir. Muhamad Guntor is also an Adjunct Professor at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjung Malim, Perak.

Dato’ (Dr.) Ir. Muhamad Guntor is actively involved in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy sector in Malaysia and is a member of the Secretariat for the Development of Energy Efficiency Regulation. He participated in the drafting of the Performance Contracting contract document for energy efficiency services. He acted as the Technical Director for the Malaysia Industrial Energy Efficiency Improvement project forwarded by United Nations Development Programme and was Project Director of the R & D team for the development of a power quality conditioning system – Automated Conversation of Energy (ACE). As Project Director, he headed the drafting of a proposal for amendment to the Uniform Building By-Laws to incorporate Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Application.

Datin Hasnah’s specialisation is in the setting up and reorganisation of company structures to suit the changing business environment. At Gading Kencana, she is responsible for administration, business development and strategic planning, Human Resource and Finance.

Her creativity and diligence had driven Gading Kencana to grow exponentially from a ‘RM2 company’ to a multi-million ringgit entity with several subsidiaries in its stable. As an accomplished entrepreneur, Datin Hasnah was awarded the SME Corp: Women Entrepreneur Award (Ten Finalists) 2016 in recognition of her skill and talent.

She has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Ohio University, Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA Hons) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, a Diploma in Business Studies from Universiti Teknologi MARA and completed the NIEW Women Directors Training Programme. Datin Hasnah is an alumni of the Tunku Khurshiah College, Seremban.

It is hard to miss this young and budding personality that is well on her way to solidifying her position in the industry. Iman Aqilah started her journey to excellence at Kolej Tunku Kurshiah (TKC) a premier all-girl fully-residential school that provides a world class education with a local touch.

She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) in Culinary Arts Management from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). This was followed with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Multimedia University (MMU).

She started her career path as a Business Development Executive where she was in charge of numerous accounts, tenders and proposals. Her grasp and knowledge in business provided her the edge for creative input in every project she handled, making them unique and unforgettable.

Since then, her career has been on a roll and she has been entrusted to head the Business Development unit where she manages local and international tenders.

Aqilah specialises in Business Development, Marketing and Sales. Drawing on her diverse experiences, she is also skilled in creating effective action plans to capitalize on emerging opportunities.

Aqilah spearheaded the collaboration with March Global LLC, a company based in Saudi Arabia to develop solar farms in West Asia, Africa and the ASEAN region. The agreement signed at Dubai World Expo 2020 involved an investment value of up to US $ 1 billion to develop solar farms in developing countries by 2025.

Head of Business Development

Amir Sharif joined the company in June 2010 and was assigned to the solar photovoltaic (PV) system construction project for the Remote Schools’ Electrification programme in Sabah. He also managed a 30kWp solar PV rooftop construction project for a hypermarket in Kulim, followed by another 600kWp project for a manufacturing facility in Penang and a 2MWp BIPV project for an automotive parts manufacturing in Batang Kali, Selangor.

When GK won the bid to build, own and operate (BOO) an 8MWp solar farm – the company’s first solar farm under the FiT programme, in Ayer Keroh Melaka, Amir who was 26 then, took up the challenge of heading the project team. Fortified by a deep sense of commitment, Amir completed the project before the deadline in 2014. In 2017, he headed the project team to construct the company’s second solar farm – with 37MWp capacity, in Bidor Perak which is the first Large Scale Solar (LSS1) being connected to 132kV national grid transmission line. Amir had attended training programmes in Germany, China, India, Korea and Thailand.

Nurul Fadhilah, or Padi as she is fondly known, joined the company in February 2009. She holds Certificates of Competency for the Design and Installation of Off-Grid and Grid Connected Solar Photovoltaic System. With her long-time experience, she leads her young teams to design and oversee the quality of all the solar PV system projects undertaken by the company. These include household rooftop solar PV systems and large-scale solar farms.

She has travelled extensively to ASEAN countries, China, Europe, India and Korea; attending training programmes and updating her knowledge as well as skills on solar technology.

Ashraf was named one of the 10 Best CFOs of Malaysian SMEs 2021.

After acquiring his Bachelor degree in Accountancy, Ashraf joined the company in August 2012. He rose from Accounts Executive to the company’s CFO. Besides ‘keeping the books’ for the company, he is tasked with preparing financial proposals for project development, liaison with financial institutions and many more. An untiring workaholic, Ashraf continually enriches his knowledge on financial instruments to improve the company’s financial standing.

Chief Financial Officer

Rashidah Baharudin joined the Gading Kencana Sdn Bhd in July 2013 as the company’s Human Resources and Administration Manager. She is responsible for selection, hiring of employees and overseeing any administrative matters of the company. Apart from that, she is responsible in ensuring the smooth running of any health, safety and welfare matters for the Gading Kencana’s family.

Her previous experience in the field of Human Resources and Administration also had positioned her in good stead to address employment policies and procedures to strengthen the Gading Kencana’s team.

We consider Fairuz a founding member of Gading Kencana’s technical team as he joined the company in its initial years. Over the years he had proven his competency with electrical works and its management. He was stationed in Sabah to manage the company’s solar hybrid systems for the Remote Schools project from 2009 to 2012.

Upon completion of the Sabah project, Fairuz was put in charge of the electrical works contracts for Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Keretapi Tanah Melayu and Telekom Malaysia as well as electrical maintenance for Gading Kencana’s assets.

Operationalised a RM2 shelf company as an electrical works and transmission cabling contractor as well as energy management consultancy. RM45, 000.00 paid-up capital was mobilised to capitalise on business opportunities provided by the Malaysian government’s 5th Fuel Policy; Energy Efficiency and energy waste reduction. These initiatives were resultant to the 1997 economic crisis.

The company traded in Made-in-Malaysia solar-powered garden lighting.
